Two completely redundant settings for FTDX-10
But everyone wants to do them first
Do we need to do these two completely redundant settings for FTDX-10?
- The first is a custom power-on screen.
Who doesn’t want to personalize their new radio by having it display their name or call sign? There is hardly anyone who would not be tempted by this possibility.
This can be done very easily:
Press <FUNC> <DISPLAY SETTINGS> <MY CALL>.
Use the on-screen keyboard to change the message. By default, only “FTDX10” is entered. You are allowed 12 characters.
I wrote “LZ3AI FTDX10”.
- And the second – setting the time and date.
The radio also has a clock. It never appears on screen. It only serves to stamp the time on the file name when you save something to SD card or elsewhere.
Press <FUNC> <EXTENSION SETTING> <DATE&TIME>.
Set DAY, MONTH, YEAR in the format shown on the display.
Press <FUNC> to save the date.
Then set TIME & MINUTE in the format shown on the display and press <FUNC> to save what you just entered.
Considering what this setting is used for, I recommend setting LZT (or local time if you’re not in Bulgaria). It is completely unnecessary to set UTC/GMT. The files that are created on the SD card have no relation to Greenwich Mean Time 😉.
Two completely pointless settings but important and nice 😉.
